The MDRD equation (from the Modification of Diet in Renal Disease trial) is used to estimate glomerular filtration rate in chronic kidney failure.

eGFR = 186.3 × Creatinine^-1.154 × Age^-0.203 ( × 0.742 if female) ( × 1.212 if African origin)
