The Duke criteria are a set of major and minor criteria used for the diagnosis of infective endocarditis.
Major Criteria
  • Viridans streptococcus
  • Streptococcus bovis
  • HACEK group
  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Community-acquired Enterococci
  • Oscillating intracardiac mass on valve or supporting structures in the path of regurgitant jets
  • Abscess
  • New partial dehiscence of prosthetic valve or new valvular regurgitation
Minor Criteria
Positive if any of the following:
  • Two major criteria
  • One major criteria and three minor criteria
  • Five minor criteria
