    • Significance

    • Low glucose (<60mg/dL) is suggestive of consumption by an infectious, inflammatory or malignant process.
    • Causes of Low Glucose in Pleural Fluid

    • Parapneumonic effusion
    • Malignancy
    • Tuberculosis
    • Rheumatoid pleuritis
