    • 15 - 45 mg/dL

Elevated CSF Protein

  • Causes of Elevated CSF Protein

  • Meningitis - bacterial, viral, fungal, tuberculosis
  • Subarachnoid haemorrhage
  • Guillain-Barre syndrome
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Intracranial tumour
  • Interpretation

  • 50-100 mg/dL is suggestive of viral meningitis
  • >100 mg/dL is suggestive of bacterial meningitis
