Rouleaux
Rouleaux are long chains of stacked red blood cells, which occur in the presence of an increase in plasma proteins - particularly fibrinogen and immunoglobulins.
Causes of Rouleaux Formation
- Acute phase reaction (infection, inflammation, malignancy)
- Anaemia of chronic disease
- Multiple myeloma
- Pregnancy
- Poor sample preparation
