Overview
Look For
- Hyperlucency of the lung fields
- Diaphragmatic flattening
- Ten or more posterior ribs visible above the diaphragm
- Mediastinal narrowing

Significance
- Hyperinflation is a sign of emphysema, though can rarely occur with other obstructive diseases such as asthma and bronchiectasis.
