Overview

The Thomas test is used to assess for a fixed flexion deformity of the hip.
  • How to Perform

  • With the patient in a supine position, pull one of their knees up to their chest
  • Abnormal If

  • The contralateral leg raises off the ground (meaning that there is a fixed flexion deformity in the contralateral leg)
