Listen For
- Reduced intensity of breath sounds, either focally or generally over the chest.
Causes of Decreased Breath Sounds
- Shallow breathing - e.g. due to anxiety or CNS depression
- Obstruction - foreign body, tumour, asthma, COPD
- Pleural effusion
- Pneumothorax
- Obesity
