Subcutaneous injections are commonly performed in clinical practice in order to deliver medications. This section outlines the procedure and the correct technique required.

Injection of Incorrect Site

    • Prevention of Intramuscular Injection

    • Bunch up the skin prior to injection
    • Prevention of Intravascular Injection

    • Inject into the correct site - avoid the medial / inferior gluteal muscle, the medial thigh etc.
    • Draw back to check for blood prior to injecting the medication
