  • The amount of antero-posterior curvature of the cervical spine.
  • Significance

  • The cervical spine is normally lordosed, and loss of lordosis or hyperlordosis may result in neck pain and headaches.

Loss of Cervical Lordosis

  • Look For

  • Loss of the normal anteriorly-directed curvature of the cervical spine.
  • Causes of Loss of Cervical Lordosis

  • Poor posture
  • Cervical spinal fusion
  • Foreign body in aerodigestive tract

Cervical Hyperlordosis

  • Look For

  • Marked anteriorly directed curvature of the cervical spine.
  • Causes of Hyperlordosis

  • Poor posture
  • Advanced age
