Ataxic dysarthria is also know as 'scanning speech' or 'drunken speech'.
  • Signs of Ataxic Dysarthria

  • Slurred speech - imprecise consonants
  • Slow speech rate - e.g. inability to say 'eye-aye' repeatedly
  • Irregular errors in speech
  • Significance

  • Suggestive of a cerebellar lesion.
