Parkinson's disease presents with four key features: resting tremor, rigidity, akinesia and postural instability. The Parkinson's examination can be used to identify these features, as well as features of the 'Parkinson's Plus' disorders that are important differential diagnoses.




    • Listen For

    • Abnormal softness of the patient’s voice.
    • Causes of Hypophonia

    • Parkinsonism (a manifestation of bradykinesia / hypokinesia)
    • Laryngeal nerve palsy
    • Myaesthenia gravis
