Overview
Mixed upper and motor neuron signs can occur rarely, and there are few conditions which are able to cause both. The major differential would be the presence of two separate pathologies.
Causes of Coexistent UMN and LMN Weakness
- Separate UMN and LMN lesions
- Motor neurone disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)
- Cervical myelopathy
- Syringomyelia
