Mechanism of Action
- Activates plasminogen, resulting in its activation to plasmin and thus fibrinolysis.
- Pulmonary embolism with haemodynamic compromise, or massive pulmonary embolism.
- Active bleeding
- Recent GI / urinary bleeding
- Recent major trauma / surgery
- Recent ischaemic stroke
- Intracranial haemorrhage, aneurysm, AVM or neoplasm
- Current anticoagulant use
- Adverse Effects
- Life-threatening haemorrhage
- Hypersensitivity – rash, oedema, anaphylaxis
- Cardiac arrhythmia
