- Inhibits DNA gyrase, preventing supercoiling of DNA and disrupting cell division.

- Indications
- Gastroenteritis (empirical agents of choice)
- Genitourinary infections - UTI, PID, bacterial prostatitis
- Skin infections
- Osteomyelitis / septic arthritis
- Anthracosis
- Adverse Effects
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea
- Headache / dizziness / fatigue
- QT prolongation
- Tendinopathy (in children)
