  • Mechanism of Action

  • Relaxes vascular smooth muscle (predominantly arterioles) through opening of potassium channels, resulting in reduced afterload.

  • Indications
  • Hypertensive crisis (IV)
  • Refractory hypertension (oral)
  • Adverse Effects
  • Headache
  • Flushing
  • Nausea / vomiting / diarrhoea
  • Tachycardia / palpitations
  • Arthralgia / myalgia
