  • Mechanism of Action

  • Competitively inhibits ADH-mediated metabolism of methanol and ethylene glycol into toxic metabolites formic acid and glycolic acid, respectively.

Clinical Use

  • Indications

  • Methanol or ethylene glycol poisoning.
  • Adverse Effects
  • CNS depression
  • Hypoglycaemia
  • Hepatotoxicity

  • Monitoring

  • Blood alcohol and glucose levels.
