  • Mechanism of Action

  • Inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 50s ribosomal subunit, resulting in inaccurate mRNA translation.
  • Microbiology

  • Effective against staphylococci, streptococci, pneumococci and most anaerobes.

Clinical Use

  • Indications
  • Severe gram positive infections:
  • Upper / lower respiratory tract infections
  • Skin infections
  • Osteomyelitis / septic arthritis
  • Septicaemia
  • Adverse Effects
  • Hypersensitivity reactions
  • Nausea / vomiting / diarrhoea
  • Elevated LFTs
