  • Competitively inhibits action of histamine on parietal cell H2 receptors, directly resulting in suppression of acid secretion.

Clinical Use

  • Indications
  • Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD)
  • Peptic ulcer disease (PUD)
  • Scleroderma oesophagitis
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (gastrinoma)

  • Adverse Effects

  • Rare.
