Overview

    • Mechanism of Action

    • Inhibit H⁺ / K⁺ ATPase, the channel responsible for pumping gastric acid into the lumen.
    • Pharmacology

Clinical Use

    • Indications

    • Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease
    • Peptic ulceration
    • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
    • Adverse Effects

    • Headache
    • Nausea / vomiting / diarrhea
    • Hypomagnesaemia
  • There is no evidence that long-term PPI use has a clinically significant effect on the absorption of nutrients.
